A recent report ranks Connecticut as the second best state to live in the U.S. The report from 24/7 Wall St. judged states based on social and economic conditions including poverty, education and health, which are all areas where Connecticut excels. A low crime rate and high median income also helped put Connecticut at the top of the list.

- Median household income: $71,346 a year (5th highest of all states)
- Poverty rate: 10.5% (6th lowest)
- Life expectancy at birth: 80.4 years (2nd highest)
