Dear Neighbor,

I hope this email finds you and your family well. I had a busy week at the capitol in a Joint Session for Governor Lamont's Budget address and doing committee work. I am spending my time in meetings and hearings, where my colleagues and I are reviewing bills and working to move them through the legislative process. We are continuing to keep a close eye on what is happening in Washington, D.C. and the impacts it may have on our governance at the state level. I am always committed to working for and protecting the residents of Bristol and across Connecticut.

During the 2025 session, House Democrats’ legislative priorities will focus on:
  • Special Education Relief
  • More Housing, Reduced Homelessness
  • Affordable Childcare
  • Protecting Our Environment

These priorities reflect our recognition that special education is the biggest budget wildcard for municipalities, increased housing and decreased homelessness are critical to the state's future economic health, rising costs and a reduced workforce are making childcare hard to obtain for many families, and protecting our environment has never been more critical.

Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black individuals throughout history and in our communities today. Now more than ever, we need to reflect, learn, and continue to work for equity and justice for all.

This month visit a Black-owned business, read a book by a Black author, watch a film or video by Black creators or about Black Americans, explore African American art, literature, and music.

The Special Education committee will be holding a listening tour across the state that will help to inform their work this legislative session.

Listen in on Thursday, February 13 at 2:00P.M. in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave, Hartford or watch on YouTube Live by clicking HERE.

Special education is a top priority, and your input is crucial. Let’s work together to make a difference!
