State Representative Nick Gauthier Sworn in for First Term

Democratic State Representative Nick Gauthier was sworn in on Wednesday for his first term and will represent the 38th district, covering Waterford and Montville.

"I want to express my gratitude to the people of Waterford and Montville," Rep. Gauthier said. "Thank you for putting your trust in me to serve as your representative. Carrying with me the thousands of conversations had across our district, I will serve with the fierce urgency of now needed to resolve the struggles and insurmountable costs so many face each and every day."

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the House Chamber on Opening Day of the 2025 Legislative Session.

Rep. Gauthier will serve on the Labor & Public Employees, Energy & Technology, Government Administration & Elections committees.

"With significant investment in universal public goods, guaranteeing equal rights under the law, and by reining in corporate control over our lives, we can ensure housing, health care, childcare, education, utilities, groceries and all the costs of daily life are affordable," Rep. Gauthier said. "We can accomplish those goals and also protect our environment and build sustainable communities and infrastructure to ensure equal opportunity for all for generations to come."

A Waterford native, Rep. Gauthier works in Waterford's Senior Services Department. He is a graduate of Waterford High School and the University of Connecticut, and he holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of New Haven.
