New Laws in Effect January 1

January 4, 2020

This January 1 not only marked the beginnings of a new year, it also meant the enactment of dozens of new laws and reforms for Connecticut residents. Below are just a couple of them:

  • Public Act No, 19-134 AN ACT EXPANDING REQUIRED HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR PREEXISTING CONDITIONS. Expands the definition of preexisting conditions under state law to ensure patients with long term health issues continue to receive coverage regardless what happens at the federal level.
  • Public Act 19-159 AN ACT CONCERNING MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER BENEFITS. Strengthens insurance coverage of mental health conditions and substance abuse treatment.
