Supporting Worker's Rights

April 14, 2019

Stop & Shop workers across the state have gone on strike this week to protest unfair labor conditions. During contract negotiations, Stop & Shop’s contract hour cuts, elimination of Sunday premium pay, no raises over the next three years, increased automation and decreased health and pension benefits. After a failure to accept a “good and reasonable” offer, employees walked off shifts and began their strike on Thursday. I was luck enough to visit the picket line and speak directly with the workers. Despite the strikes, most Stop & Shops throughout the state are remaining open – I urge you to support the works and not cross the line.
