Connecticut Is a Great Place To Be

November 15, 2019

Here’s the truth: Connecticut is a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

Data compiled by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) shows Connecticut ranks high in many key categories related to quality of life, a highly skilled and highly trained workforce, business innovation, bioscience, education and recreation.

Jobs? Well, according to a recent article written by a retired investment professional from Greenwich, our private sector gained more than 86,000 new jobs in the last eight years.

How about Connecticut spending? Well. according to the North Star Policy Institute, our state's ratio of total government expenditures to state GDP ranks second lowest among the 50 states trailing only New Hampshire.

How about business taxes? According to Ernst & Young's 2019 study of state corporate tax rates for the Council on State Taxation (COST), Connecticut's total effective business tax rate ranks fourth lowest among the 50 states. Connecticut's total corporate tax revenues compromise the smallest percentage of state tax revenues by far.

I've heard about the rich leaving the state but since 2008, the number of billionaires has risen from 11 to 17 - and the number of millionaires is up 20 percent.

Connecticut - a great place to live, work, play and raise a family? You bet it is.
