Recognizing My Legislative Intern

Andrew and I at the interns' mock session, where Andrew presided as Speaker

Each spring the legislature's internship program gives college students the opportunity to intern at the General Assembly. I'd like to thank my intern, Andrew Silva, for all his hard work this session! Andrew is a student at Central Connecticut State University, and he has been a valuable asset to our team. He has helped me and my staff with policy research, writing, and committee work.

Recently the interns had their "mock session," where they debate proposed legislation in the House chamber while following all the usual House rules and procedures. Andrew's peers selected him for the role of Speaker, and he did a great job presiding over discussions on some of the same issues that the legislature is currently considering.

Andrew is a motivated and hardworking young man, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors!
