Dear Neighbor,
The General Assembly hit our mid-point for our regular session this week. More committees are finishing their original work for the year - Banking, Higher Education, Insurance and Real Estate, General Law, Government Oversight, and Transportation.
There's good news for Danbury. First, the Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut received a $5,000 grant from the Department of Agriculture for the annual Farmers Market that opens in late June and runs through October. I'm a regular customer.
Second, the proposed cancer-fighting proton therapy facility on Wooster Heights, Danbury Proton, could start construction on a 20,000-square-foot building. The City Council voted, 17-2, to approve a resolution for the city to become Danbury Proton’s conduit issuer for the sale of $130 million in revenue bonds. Construction could start, and it won't cost taxpayers a penny. I've been working on this for wight years, and I'm happy to see it proceed. |
