Dear Friend,
This is my State Capitol update for the week of October 17.
Click the image below to view my video on this week’s events. |
|
| I spent a lot of time this week in, around, and even above the 64th District. |
|
| Thanks to Treasurer Erick Russell for joining me at Salisbury Town Hall to talk about CT’s fiscal health and how we are positioned to weather federal cutbacks from both HR1 (the federal budget bill passed in July) and the current shutdown. And my thanks to all of you from across the region who joined us and asked some great questions. |
|
| Thanks to my colleagues Representatives Cristin McCarthy Vahey and Eleni Kavros DeGraw for joining me at a working lunch following a public policy panel we joined at Yale Law School (it was Purple Thursday, honoring Domestic Violence Awareness Month, hence the color scheme). |
|
| And, big thanks to local pilot Donn Castonguay who gave me an aerial tour of the district this morning in his Piper Cub, and to his wife Suzanne Smith who helped make it happen. We started off from Triumph Airfield in North Canaan -I can confirm that it is still peak foliage season and that we live in the most beautiful part of Connecticut. |

The American Mural Project was one of 11 museums to receive the 2025 Award of Merit for the AMP Regeneration Project from the Connecticut League of Museums.
This recognition is due entirely to the hard work of more than 100 students from across the state who came together last October and began working on a project addressing climate change.

| Today is National Mammography Day. EARLY DETECTION IS THE BEST PROTECTION! Breast cancer treatment is most effective when caught early. If you’re a Connecticut resident aged 40–64 and uninsured or underinsured, you may qualify for free or low-cost mammograms through the CT Early Detection & Prevention Program. |
