Dear Friend,

This is my State Capitol update for the week of September 6.

If you prefer to watch rather than read, click the image below to hear about the issues contained in this newsletter.

I hope everyone enjoyed Happy Labor Day weekend, with a break from your labors and a chance to spend time with family and friends.  Here in the NW Corner, Labor Day weekend means the Goshen Fair and Lime Rock Park’s vintage car weekend, and I saw many of you at those events over the weekend.

We honored Skip Barber at Lime Rock Park over the weekend, while surrounded by vintage cars going back as far as the 1920s.

As we all settle back into school and work routines, I had the chance this morning to visit the campus of ESPN in Bristol, which began as a half-acre plot, with seven employees, and now has a 120-acre campus where more than 4,200 people work.  Majority Leader Jason Rojas and I toured the facility together, and they even let us sit at the Sports Center desk, which was quite fun.

Majority Leader Jason Rojas and I decided we really liked this desk at ESPN.

Disaster Relief Resources

From floodwaters to severe drought conditions and mild winters to late Spring freezes, many of Connecticut’s farmers have felt the impacts firsthand of weather-related natural disasters. As these events become a more frequent occurrence, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture has compiled the following resources to assist agricultural producers as they navigate these challenges. If you need immediate support, please dial 2-1-1 and speak to a Community Resource Specialist that can connect you to help. Or visit their website: 2-1-1 Connecticut. Ignite is designed to help women-owned businesses grow! Grants between $2,500 and $10,000 will be awarded for clearly defined projects that will have a measurable impact on the business, its growth and profitability.
