Legislative Update 2.28

February 28, 2026

We passed an emergency certification – or e-cert – bill in the House on Thursday, following the Senate's action on Wednesday. The omnibus bill is comprised of legislation introduced last year, including education funding, protections for warehouse workers, and public safety initiatives. Read more HERE.

We're back in session. And the good news is, during Week 1, the House and Senate voted to extend funding, using a $500 million emergency fund created in November, to offset the ridiculous funding cuts to critical programs for seniors, children, and families by our own federal government.

Legislative Update 1.27

January 27, 2026

You may have heard that the state's severe cold weather protocol has been extended through Thursday, February 5th. It was activated on Friday, so this will be the longest period in which the protocol has been in effect in over a decade. Overnight temperatures over the next few days will be in the single digits.
