Spring is here. I'm loving it, and I hope you are, too.

This time of year means we're moving along during a short session. We were in session this week, and I've included some details below about what we accomplished.

A boost in funding for the University of New Haven Building Tomorrow Academic Infrastructure Project is on the runway!

I was proud to take part in a commemorative press event at the Capitol on Wednesday, celebrating the legacy of an all-black female battalion during World War II. Ever heard of The Six Triple Eight?

We passed an emergency certification – or e-cert – bill in the House on Thursday, following the Senate's action on Wednesday. The omnibus bill is comprised of legislation introduced last year, including education funding, protections for warehouse workers, and public safety initiatives. Read more HERE.

Black History Month may be ending, but not before we honor five fabulous legislators from the Connecticut General Assembly who have made their own mark by being the first black female to represent their districts.

We're back in session. And the good news is, during Week 1, the House and Senate voted to extend funding, using a $500 million emergency fund created in November, to offset the ridiculous funding cuts to critical programs for seniors, children, and families by our own federal government.

You may have heard that the state's severe cold weather protocol has been extended through Thursday, February 5th. It was activated on Friday, so this will be the longest period in which the protocol has been in effect in over a decade. Overnight temperatures over the next few days will be in the single digits.
