Nominate Gender Equity Advocates for the City's First Annual Norwalk ImpACT Award

In preparation of Women's History Month and International Women's Month in March, the Norwalk Commission on the Status of Women shared that they are hosting their first annual Norwalk ImpACT Award and are asking the community to help nominate individuals.

The Norwalk ImpACT Award will recognize two outstanding gender equity advocates in the community whose actions have had a positive impact on women, girls and other marginalized members of the community, such as transgender people and gender non-conforming people.

The two individuals include a member of the youth, who is under the age of 18 and an adult over the age of 18. Following the nomination process, awardees will be announced and celebrated at the Commission's regularly scheduled meeting on March 11, 2024, at 7:00 pm.

Members of the Norwalk community are encouraged to solicit nominations by filling out this form and welcome assistance in sharing the attached flyer to help identify nominations. Nominations must be received by February 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm.

(High resolutions images will be required if a submission is selected.)There will also be an event at the State Capitol the week of Earth Day to celebrate the winners and share their submissions.

ICYMI - Senior Issues Listening Session
Reminder - tomorrow, Senate Majority Leader Duff and I will host a senior issues listening session at Kingsway Senior Housing. One of our legislatives priorities for the upcoming session is legislation that is focused on seniors, so we wanted to take the time to hear your input. Hope to see you there!
National Girls & Women in Sports Day
February 7 was National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). This day, which has been celebrated for nearly 40 years, honors girls and women who participate in athletics at all levels, the positive influence of sports participation and the continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.

I had so much fun cheering on the fantastic UConn Women’s Basketball team in their win (Coach Auriemma’s 1200th!) and supporting their celebration of this important day where we honor the intergenerational change we are witnessing and the power of women athletes to change the world for the better.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions and concerns you may have - I can be reached at Dominique.Johnson@cga.ct.gov, or through my office phone - 860-240-8585.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Dominique Johnson
State Representative
