CTDOT Plans Project for Route 58 in Fairfield

The CT Department of Transportation has announced a plan to upgrade traffic signal detection systems & construction or reconstruction of concrete sidewalk ramps, including Route 58 in Fairfield, beginning on April 12.

As part of the 2024 Pavement Preservation Program, the purpose of this project is to replace the existing wearing surface and extend the serviceability of the pavement structure. Traffic signal detection systems will be upgraded to video or radar detection at fourteen intersections and thirty-two concrete sidewalk ramps will be constructed or reconstructed to meet ADA requirements.

Nighttime lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Permitted closures during active work periods may restrict traffic to alternating one-way traffic, with active traffic control, police, or flagging personnel. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions and seek alternate routes.
