Hey Neighbors,
Happy Friday!

This Wednesday, I was proud to be sworn in for another term as State Representative at the Connecticut General Assembly. It was great to see my legislative colleagues again and begin planning how we are going to help the people of Connecticut this session.

This session, I will be serving as House Chair of the Select Committee on Special Education Committee and as a member of the Appropriations, Education, and Judiciary Committees

It's easier than ever to follow along and get involved in our legislative session. There are several resources you can utilize that will help you stay updated on our work as it unfolds in Hartford.

Here's how you can stay connected and actively participate:

  • The Office of Legislative Research (OLR) provides nonpartisan and unbiased research to members of the General Assembly and their staff. Part of their duties include writing bill analyses, which are summaries of bills in plain language. Click here to check out their website.
  • In addition, OLR recently published the 2025 Major Issues report, which summarizes key issues the legislature could take up during session.
  • You can view the Connecticut General Assembly's upcoming events by checking out its schedule on the CGA official website
  • Follow CT-N for live coverage of committee meetings, as well as House and Senate floor debates.
  • You can register to monitor any bill's journey as it goes through the legislative process. By signing up, you can enter the bill number and receive real-time updates. Stay informed with email notifications whenever there's a change in the bill's progress.
  • Visit this website for information on how to testify on a bill at a public hearing.

Together, we can ensure all voices are heard.

I'm also thrilled to show you Governor Ned Lamont's official proclamation recognizing January as Muslim Heritage Month in Connecticut.

The proclamation serves not only as a recognition of the contributions of Muslims to the state of CT and to this Country, but also as a means to push for education and community building in our state.

It was great to be joined by Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz and amazing leaders across the state from CAIR CT, Muhammad Islamic Center in Hartford, Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, and Bridgeport Islamic Community Center to recognize this great step toward progress for our state.

If you have any issues, concerns, or feedback, I would love to hear from you! Please feel free to contact me at 860-240-8585 if you ever need anything or by email at maryam.khan@cga.ct.gov.

Sincerely,

Maryam Khan
