A powerful storm is forecast to impact most of the state today. The National Weather Services has issued a high wind warning through 6pm tonight as they predict potential power outages with fallen trees and strong wind gusts.

To make sure you are safe and fully prepared for the storm, Governor Lamont is reminding CT residents to:

  • Fully charge mobile devices
  • Be aware of downed power lines
  • Report any outages

HIGH WIND WARNING AND COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT...
HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING...

  • Winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Even sturdy and well secured tent structures could be damaged. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult.
  • Avoid being outside and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 6 PM...

  • Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding and shoreline impacts during Monday afternoon high tide.
  • If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property and move vehicles to higher ground.
