Happy Holidays!

December 22, 2023
Merry Christmas
Warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season filled with peace, happiness, and cherished moments shared with family and friends. May the spirit of Christmas bring you immense joy and inspiration throughout the coming year. Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating!

Happy Kwanzaa

December 26th is the first day of Kwanzaa, a seven day African American and Pan-African holiday to celebrate the history, values, family, community and culture. Kwanzaa, founded by Maulana Ron Karenga in 1966, is not a religious holiday, but a cultural one with an inherent spiritual quality. Africans of all faiths celebrate.

When observing Kwanzaa, candles are lit. The black candle symbolizes the people themselves, the three red candles are for the struggle or bloodshed in the past, and the three green candles represent the earth and the abundance of possibilities the future holds.

To all celebrating, may the principles of Kwanzaa illuminate your celebrations and guide you towards a wonderful and prosperous year ahead. Happy Kwanzaa!

Happy New Year!
Whether you celebrate the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024 at home or out, please remember to celebrate safely.
  • Make a Plan – Celebrate with friends and make sure you stay together. Designate a meet up spot if separated and make sure everyone in your group has a ride home.
  • Trust Your Instincts – see something, say something. Be aware of your surroundings and call 911 if you observe a suspicious activity or feel you are in danger.
  • Drink Responsibly – know your limits, hydrate with water and make sure you eat throughout the night. Never leave a drink unattended or accept a drink from a stranger.
  • Do Not Drive Impaired – before you head out, make a plan for everyone to get home safely. Designate a sober driver, plan a ride home (taxi, Uber, family or friend) or use public transportation.
  • Keep your pets safe at home. They may be scared or confused with the celebrations and noise.
  • Use fireworks safely or better yet, leave them to the professionals, especially if you are impaired.

May 2024 bring prosperity, unity, and positive transformations to our community and the world. From my house to yours, wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and fulfilling New Year ahead!
