Operation Fuel Accepting Applications Until March 1
January 17, 2024If you're struggling to pay utility bills, there is still time to apply to Operation Fuel for help.
Applications for Operation Fuel's energy assistance program for the Winter/Spring season will be accepted until March 1, unless available funds run out before that date.
Households with incomes that do not exceed 75% of the State Median Income Guidelines - about $52,000 for an individual and about $100,000 for a family of four - may qualify for assistance.
Eligible clients may apply for energy assistance (gas, electric, oil, or other deliverable fuel) once per year and receive a grant of up to $500. These grants can be particularly helpful to working families, the elderly, disabled persons, or those facing a financial crisis.
To receive utility assistance (electric & gas), clients must have made at least four utility payments in the past 12 months, owe a past due amount, and provide income information.
Operation Fuel works with the following utility companies:
- Electricity: Eversource, United Illuminating (UI), and Norwalk Public Utilities
- Natural Gas: Eversource, UI, Yankee Gas, Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG)
- Water: CT Water and The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC)
Operation Fuel has been assisting Connecticut residents for 46 years, distributing millions of dollars in assistance to thousands of households.
