This year's legislative session has officially ended, and in a bipartisan moment of unity, the entire House Chamber rang bells to celebrate and to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States of America. It was a meaningful reminder that despite our differences, we can still come together to honor our nation’s history and shared values.
| I am proud to share that we passed a state budget that invests in Waterbury. Please read below to learn more about that, upcoming road work, and to see images of Earth Day cleanup. |

| Bipartisan Budget Invests in Waterbury |
| After months of budget analysis and discussion, I joined my colleagues in the House and Senate in passing a responsible, bipartisan budget and bond bill that keeps Connecticut moving forward. |
| Together, we produced a 2027 budget providing more than $300 million in relief for cities, towns, and schools. The funding will significantly boost support for the state’s education system, increase crucial investments in housing and transportation, support town and city budgets, all while safeguarding the state's strong fiscal outlook, including $1 billion toward paying down long-term debt. |
As the House Bonding Chairman, I’ve been proud to work alongside the Waterbury Delegation and Mayor Paul Pernerewski to secure critical state resources that support our city’s growth and long-term success. We secured an additional $27.7 million in education and town aid.
This compromise reflects the kind of collaboration our residents expect and deserve. |

| Bridge Repairs to Affect I-84 & Route 8 |
Drivers in Waterbury should expect nighttime delays as bridge repair work continues on I-84 and Route 8 for the foreseeable future. Crews will shut down lanes during the project in the following areas:
- Exit 31 on Route 8 North
- Exit 17 Chase Parkway on-ramp over I-84
- South Elm Street over I-84
- Baldwin Street over I-84
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, work will take place nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. until October 9.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and slow down in work zones to keep construction crews and fellow drivers safe. |

| Alderman John Drewry and I were proud to roll up our sleeves and join neighbors for Waterbury’s annual Earth Day cleanup at Waterville and Fulton Parks. It was encouraging to see many members of the community come together with a shared commitment to caring for the places we all enjoy. |
Simple acts, like picking up litter, make a big difference in keeping our neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make this year’s Earth Day a success! |
