Where To Stay During Dangerous Cold

Due to dangerously frigid weather, the state's severe cold weather protocol is in effect until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9. Temperatures are expected to average 10 – 20 degrees below normal. This is the first time the state has activated the protocol this season. 


The following locations are serving as Waterbury’s warming centers:

North End Recreation Center (268 North Main Street)

  • Open 24 hours through Tuesday, December 9

St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury Shelter (114 Benedict Street)

  • Open 24 hours

Homeless Youth Drop In Center (83 Prospect Street)

  • Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

CHD Hospitality Center (690 East Main Street)

  • Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Waterbury Senior Center (1985 East Main Street)

  • Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
