June 17th Updates: Back to Work Initiative, Info on Indoor & Outdoor Gatherings, and More

I want to pass along some important information and updates on the state's response to COVID-19 and reopening Connecticut, as well as information on a variety of other topics.

Information on Indoor and Outdoor Gatherings

On Tuesday, Governor Lamont announced updated guidlines for indoor and outdoor gatherings over the next several weeks. 

Effective June 17:

  • Indoor private gatherings – 25 people
  • Outdoor gatherings – 100 people
  • Outdoor event venues (e.g. amphitheaters, race tracks) – 25% of fire capacity and distancing (consistent with outdoor amusement parks)

Effective July 3:

  • Indoor private gatherings – 25 people
  • Outdoor private gatherings – 100 people, one time exception for graduations at 150 people
  • Outdoor organized gatherings (e.g. fireworks, concerts in municipal parks) – 15 feet of space blanket to blanket, cap of 500 people; event organizer responsible for compliance with guidance
  • Outdoor event venues (e.g. amphitheaters, race tracks) – 25% of fire capacity and distancing

Effective mid-July (date to be determined):

  • Indoor private gatherings – 50 people
  • Outdoor private gatherings (including graduations) – 250 people
  • Outdoor organized gatherings (e.g. fireworks, concerts in municipal parks) – 15 feet of space blanket to blanket, no cap; event organizer responsible for compliance with guidance
  • Outdoor event venues (e.g. amphitheaters, race tracks) – 50% of fire capacity and distancing

CT Back to Work Initiative 

The State of Connecticut is launching a new tool designed to help jobseekers and employers. The CT Back to Work Initiative will offer free remote job training for in-demand skills, and it will enable employers to post job openings, and job seekers to search for job openings that match their skills and training.

On Tuesday, I was back at the Capitol with the Women's Caucus to call for a statewide investigation of all nursing homes, in addition to an investigation of the state’s response to the pandemic.

A Victory for LGBTQ Rights

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that federal civil rights law protects gay, lesbian and transgender workers. This historic ruling will extend protections to millions of workers nationwide and is a great victory for all who celebrate a diverse society.
