Special Session & Community Updates

July 14, 2020
As reports come in from around the country of COVID positive cases and hospitalizations surging, here in Connecticut we can be thankful and proud of the fact that to date we have been successful in slowing the spread of this virus. This is thanks to your participation and support of mask wearing, strong hand and face hygiene, ongoing social distancing and being outside as often as possible when with others.

In order to maintain this positive trend, Governor Lamont has instituted self-quarantine measures. You can read more about these guidelines here.

Special Session Anticipated Next Week

Judiciary Committee leaders from both parties stood outside the Capitol last Friday morning to announce the release of LCO #3471 An Act Concerting Police Accountability (AACPA).

The legislature is also expected to vote on an absentee ballot bill to give residents the opportunity to vote via absentee ballot in the November election. At this point, a draft of this bill has not been released.

Updates to Metro-North

Metro-North added train service to the New Haven Line, most recently on 6/22. They are now running approximately 63% of train service for about 15.5% of ridership. The current weekday schedule includes additional early morning and peak period trains. This service level is more than a weekend schedule, but less than a full weekday schedule prior to COVID-19.
