Seasonal flu is here

October 21, 2020

With infections from COVID-19 on the rise in Connecticut, public health officials tell us it's even more important to get the seasonal flu shot. The COVID increase is largely due to students returning to college, the change in seasons with people spending more time indoors, and social gatherings that are either too large or where people are not practicing social distancing or wearing masks.

COVID is not going away anytime soon and the seasonal flu is already making the rounds. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends everyone six-months of age and older should get the flu vaccine.

It takes about two-weeks for the seasonal flu vaccine to begin protecting from infection, so doctors suggest getting the shot as soon as possible.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) and has CDC websites provide resources about the flu.
