Juan R. Candelaria

I have had the privilege of serving as Deputy Speaker and look forward to continuing in that capacity with Speaker Ritter. The months ahead will prove challenging and I am eager to get to work on solutions to our most pressing issues. 

“Juan Candelaria has done an excellent job as Deputy Speaker in the toughest of times and I am confident he will continue to be an asset to the caucus in the upcoming session,” Speaker-designate Ritter said.

When the Speaker of the House is absent from the chamber, the Deputy Speaker presides over the House of Representatives, recognizes all members wishing to speak to the chamber, puts all questions to vote and directs legislation to the proper committees.
