Vaccine News

As we await news of FDA approval for the vaccine, I wanted to share information I learned today. Every year as we approach the start of the legislative session, multiple organizations invite us to participate in legislative forums or tours. One of today’s virtual events was with UCONN.

Dr. David Banach, MD, MPH, Head of Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiologist was on the call to answer questions and share information. He noted that the data released regarding the vaccine trials was optimistic, particularly related to efficacy and adverse events. In his view, the news was better than expected.

Dr. Banach is one of the members of the Governor’s Vaccine Advisory Group. You can learn more about membership, the conversations they have been having and the Draft Vaccination plan here.

I will continue to share news about the vaccination and how to access information and resources. Dr. Banach was clear that even with vaccinations beginning, we will need to continue to maintain our efforts to social distance, wearing masks, proper hand hygiene and avoiding groups. Thank you for your continued efforts.
