REPRESENTATIVE PARKER SWORN IN TO REPRESENT MADISON, DURHAM

Representative John-Michael Parker (D-Madison/Durham) was sworn in Wednesday to represent the 101st House District serving Madison and Durham for the General Assembly's 2021-2022 session.

This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the legislature held outdoor swearing-in ceremonies as the 2021-2022 session got underway.

"I was honored to have earned the support of my community during November's historic election, and I am thrilled to now begin my service as State Representative," Rep Parker said. "With COVID-19 continuing to infect and take the lives of people across Connecticut and with ongoing disruption and deep uncertainty in our economy and civic life, the short- and long-term challenges we face are enormous—with no easy solutions in sight.

"But I am committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address the greatest needs and threats facing the people of our state while not losing ground on the many important issues that have been sidelined during the pandemic. I'm ready to fight for progress in education, healthcare, environmental protections and economic development, and to serve as a partner to our municipal leaders and dedicated public officials as we build a future where all people in the 101st are happy, healthy, and thriving."

Parker will sit on the General Assembly's Education, Environment and Public Health committees.

While much of the legislature's work will be conducted virtually in the coming months, there will be opportunities for citizens to make their voices heard through virtual public hearings and other advocacy opportunities.

Rep. Parker encourages Madison and Durham residents to contact him at the Capitol by phone at 860-240-8500 or by email at johnmichael.parker@cga.ct.gov to share thoughts on pending legislation or ideas for enhancing state government, or for assistance with state agency issues or other constituent services.
