Rep. Farrar Swears In For First Term

During a ceremony outside of the capitol complex Wednesday morning, Kate Farrar was officially sworn in as state representative for the 20th Assembly District in West Hartford.

"I am honored to have this community's support and to step into this new leadership role to serve the residents of the 20th House District and Connecticut," said Rep. Farrar. "There are many obstacles ahead, but I am ready to get to work for our community and move our state forward."

Rep. Farrar will serve on the legislature's Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, and Insurance and Real Estate Committee.

She has over 20 years' experience as a non-profit advocate and active community volunteer championing working families, women and girls. Rep. Farrar has been a staunch supporter of policy that improves equity and fairness in healthcare, education, and the workplace.

As Executive Director of the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund, Rep. Farrar championed the passage of the state's new Paid Family and Medical Leave Act and helped advance legislation to raise the state's minimum wage.

Additionally, Rep. Farrar serves as a board member of the Betty Knox Foundation and volunteers for the Aurora Foundation for Women and Girls in West Hartford, Foodshare, and as a Zoning Alternate for the West Hartford Town Council.
