How to Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine

January 13, 2021

Yesterday, our state's COVID-19 positivity rate reached 10.72%, the highest level in months, making it even more important for eligible residents to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Our state is currently in Phase 1A of the vaccine rollout. Individuals included in this phase are essential frontline workers, long-term care residents and staff, and first responders.CovidVaccineinCT

To ensure no dose of the vaccine is wasted, it was recently announced individuals 75 years and older not living in nursing homes will be able to register to receive the vaccine. This demographic was originally included in Phase 1B, along with certain essential workers, and individuals and staff in congregate living settings.

Vaccinations will be free and will only be provided by an appointment. Eligible individuals who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine can contact their medical provider or register through the state Department of Public Health Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS). VAMS will follow up with scheduling information.

Register with VAMS Here

Only those eligible under Phase 1A or select individuals under Phase 1B may register for the vaccine. Those registering through VAMS must provide their full name, date of birth, zip code, occupation (including "retired"), and email address. This information will only be used to schedule a vaccination appointment and will remain confidential.

Registrants will receive a confirmation email and a follow up email confirming or denying registration. Approved individuals may select an appointment in VAMS.

Every individual must have a unique email to be registered and vaccinated with VAMS. Someone using their personal email to register an elderly parent may not be able to register or be vaccinated using that same email.

The DPH directs the prioritization and timeline for Connecticut's vaccine rollout. It continues to modify protocols and criteria for vaccination, as well as its definition of Phase 1B eligible residents. Click here for updates on Connecticut's vaccination phases and eligibility.

If you have questions about your health status or the vaccine, please contact your health care provider.
