Take Your Child to the Library Week - Monday, February 1 – Friday, February 4

 The East Hartford Public Library invites you to take your child to the library! The library will host a series of events during the first week of February.

Join them for activities all week to learn more about what East Hartford Public Library offers you and your family.

 

Show Your Love!

What do you love about the East Hartford Public Library or East Hartford itself? Is there someone special that you want to know how much you care? Stop by the walk-up window to pick up hearts to decorate the windows of the library. Decorate your heart with someone or something that you love. Drop off your hearts and we'll hang them in our windows for everyone to see. We love you, East Hartford!

Scavenger Hunt Show and Tell - Tuesday, February 2, 6:30 – 7:00 pm

Love scavenger hunts? Miss show and tell or share? Play along with as they give you something to find at home and then invite you to share it with them! Categories will be broad so that lots of items can be found. Best for families with children in kindergarten and above. Register online.

Bedtime Stories - Wednesday, February 3, 3:30-4:30pm

Bedtime a struggle? Tired of reading the same books every night? Join them in your jammies to listen to bedtime stories that will send everyone off to bed with sweet dreams. Best suited for families with children ages 2-8 years old. Register online.

Valentine's Day Crafts for Grades 1-5

Want to make cards and decorations? Sign up to get a kit to make something to celebrate. You'll have enough supplies to make a few! Join on Zoom to learn how to put everything together. Best suited for kids in grades 1-5. We'll send an email when the kits are ready for pickup. Register online.

Virtual Preschool Expo

East Hartford, CT— Do you have a child between the ages of 2 - 5? It is time to start thinking about preschool for the 2021-2022 school year. Application deadlines are drawing near! The East Hartford Public Library invites you to join us on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:00 PM for live online presentations from area preschools and daycare centers, including CREC and other magnet schools, at this free virtual event. Get information on curriculum, location, costs, and how to access application materials.

COVID Testing

The Town of East Hartford asks all residents to stay the course. Please continue to get tested for COVID-19, wear a mask, wash your hands and maintain social distancing. Free COVID-19 testing is available in the Town Hall parking lot on Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. There will be additional testing on Saturday, January 30, 11 AM to 3 PM at Hockanum Park, in the Terry Pool parking lot at 310 High Street.

Information about testing locations and upcoming community testing events in East Hartford can be found on our town website at https://bit.ly/2Mvuvjs. Please get tested even if you do not have symptoms. Help us stop the spread. 

 

East Hartford Youth Services

EHYS, with the East Hartford Health Department, invites you to participate in weekly educational support sessions relative to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting on February 3rd, 2021. The sessions will run on Wednesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 PM, through Zoom. Those interested can join by following this link https://bit.ly/3pjd4kn and registering.

The sessions will be facilitated by staff from the East Hartford Youth Services and East Hartford Health departments.

This support group is a space for individuals to get mental health resources and support as well as public health information regarding COVID.

This could include peer support regarding feelings of isolation and loneliness, grief and loss support, tips on stress reduction, tips on helping members maintain relationships and connection to others and their community, as well as educational information such as how to help prevent the spread of COVID, symptoms of COVID, dealing with a diagnosis, testing locations, and information related to COVID vaccination, and more.
