Today, February 9, is National Pizza Day. Pizza is an important part of our state's culture; according to this article, Connecticut has the most pizza restaurants per capita in the country. Several pizzerias in New Haven, such as Frank Pepes and Sally's, have received international acclaim in the food community.

Although New Haven gets the most attention, you can find an excellent pizza just about anywhere in the state. Click here to find a local restaurant in your area.

My colleague, Rep. Patricia Dillion, recently proposed a bill that would make pizza the official state food of Connecticut. This started a lively debate with some of our tri state neighbors. Regardless of what side you are on, we can all agree that pizza, no matter the style, is a delicious comfort food that can be enjoyed by all.
