2/8/21 Newsletter: Vaccine Update, Dept. Public Health Update, & Public Hearing

February 26, 2021

I’m excited to announce that Connecticut residents aged 65 to 74 can begin booking appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, February 11th.

If you are 65 to 74 years old, on Thursday, February 11th, you can book your appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the state’s Vaccine Appointment Assist Line (877-918-2224) or you can book an appointment through the state’s online central system or VAMS.

This demographic has been prioritized in the next wave because they are amongst the hardest hit by this terrible disease. While they are only 18% of our population, they make up 88% of COVID fatalities. We are all extremely eager for greater vaccine supply from the Federal government and the further expansion of vaccine rollouts so that we can continue to move forward.

To accommodate for the expansion in vaccine rollout, the state has expanded the staffing capacity of the Vaccine Appointment Assist Line (877-918-2224):

  • 125 contact specialists trained and answering appointment calls
  • Scheduling available seven days per week
  • Scheduling occurs between 8a.m. - 8p.m. each day

I will continue to keep you informed as updates are announced.
