I stand with Waterbury's Jewish community in remembering this tragic stain on human history, especially as we see an increase in hate and racism in our country and elsewhere.

Holocaust Day, or Yom HaShoah in Israel, commemorates those who perished. In the United States, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum remembers the victims and warns of the dangers of unchecked hatred and need to recognize and prevent genocide.

I hope you will take some time to reflect on the past and strive to make our future inclusive of all people.
