REPRESENTATIVE BOYD & TN 911 CHAMPION EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS FUNDING FOR EASTERN CONNECTICUT

(HARTFORD, CT) – Representative Pat Boyd (D-Brooklyn, Eastford, Pomfret, Union, Woodstock), along with the management of Station TN have developed and advocated for a state bonding grant towards for Tolland County Mutual Aide Fire Service. The State Bonding Commission allocated $3 million to fund the replacement of the region’s Emergency Communication System. This allocation is one of the most significant investments in the emergency dispatch infrastructure in the history of Eastern Connecticut.

“Investing in our emergency communication system is critical to the safety of our residents throughout the region. An efficient dispatch system is critical to effective emergency services,” said Rep. Boyd. “I am thrilled to have worked side by side with Tyler Millix, the Executive Director of TN, to secure this funding so that we can maintain reliable emergency communications in our region. My hope is that this is part one of a two-part allocation; the second is expected to support QV.”

“The administration and member agencies of Tolland County 911 are deeply appreciative of being the recipients of this award. The funding will allow for upgrades that will not only enhance emergency communications within our immediate area of responsibility including technologies designed to enhance firefighter safety, but also allow for integration into Statewide systems that will allow for redundancy and enhanced capability. We look forward to collaborating with our Regional and State partners in the development of this project,” said Tyler F. Millix, Executive Director of Tolland County Mutual Aide Fire Service.

Rep. Boyd is the Co-Chair of the Connecticut Legislative Fire/EMS Caucus, President and a volunteer firefighter in the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department, and the Deputy Emergency Management Director for the Town of Pomfret.
