Veteran's Employment Suit Drive a Success

September 16, 2021
Thanks to every one of you who turned out for our Veterans Employment Suit Drive on August 28th.

I am honored to let you know that the joint effort of your Waterbury legislative delegation collected a truckload of clothing donations for veterans seeking private sector employment.

We accepted over 500 donations for men and women veterans, including suits, jackets, shirts, ties, dresses, shoes, and various accessories.

Veterans enter or return to the workforce every day after completing their military duties. Because of your donations, these veterans will have the appropriate attire for job interviews that will help them be successful in the private sector.

Thanks to West Side Middle School principal Peter McCasland, assistant principal Kathleen Ferrucci, and the West Side custodial staff for their assistance in providing the drop-off location. Thanks also to Veterans' Affairs Commissioner Thomas Saadi for his commitment and support of our clothing drive effort.

Thanks also to
Save A Suit in Bethel for cleaning and preparing the collected clothing for distribution to veterans across Connecticut.
