I am sharing a list of upcoming holiday events being offered by Windsor Recreation & Leisure Services.

Winter Wonderland Event

 

What: Enjoy the Holiday lights, trees and inflatables with Santa and his little helpers outside of L.P. Wilson Community Center. Take the opportunity before Santa leaves for the North Pole! Bring your own camera for a free picture with Santa. Work on an arts & crafts project in Santa’s Workshop, see special captions of one of the holiday classics, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the tennis courts. There will be hot cocoa and donuts. This event is entirely outdoors and free to attend.
 
When/Where: Thursday, December 9 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the L.P. Wilson Community Center (outdoors).
 
Ages: All ages, bring the family!

Deck The House: Holiday Light Contest
Deadline to register is this Thursday!
 

 

What: Get into the Holiday Spirit with our Deck the House Holiday Light Contest! Do you think you have one of the best-decorated houses in Windsor, CT this holiday season? Windsor Recreation & Youth Services will be conducting the Third Annual Deck the House: Holiday Light Contest this year! Winners of each prize will win Visa Gift Cards and bragging rights! Deck the House has no entry fee and is completely free.
 
Deadline: Applications must be received no later than 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 9.

What: Don't miss out on our Make-Your-Own Holiday Card Session! Holiday Card Supplies will be provided free of charge, but registration is required. Register online or call us at 860-285-1992 so we know to expect you.
 
When/Where: Thursday, December 9 at 9:30 AM at the senior center.
 
Ages: 55 and up.

Santa Hat Wreath Making

 

What: Get in the holiday spirit and flex your crafty muscles with our Santa Hat Wreath Making Session. Cost is $5.00 per person. Register online using the button below or give our office a call at (860) 285-1992.
 
When/Where: Friday, December 10 at 9:30 AM at the senior center.
 
Ages: 55 and up.

Dog Photos with Santa
 

 

What: Dog Photos with Santa. Don't let the holiday season pass without a photo of your four legged best friend and Santa! Please bring your own camera or smart phone. Free. No registration needed.
 
When/Where: Tuesday, December 14 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the LP Wilson Community Center.
 
Ages: All ages.

Windsor in 1921: The Paradox of Progress
 
What: Join Windsor Historical Society curator Kristen Wands for this captivating presentation: Windsor in 1921: The Paradox of Progress. Through both documentary video and live discussion, Kristen will bring the year 1921 to life with photos, documents and artifacts from this pivotal time in Windsor’s history.
 
When/Where: Wednesday, December 15 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the senior center.
 
Ages: 55 and up.

North Pole Phone Calls
 
What: A phone call from the North Pole is on every child’s wish list! North Pole Calls are presented by the Windsor Recreation Department for Windsor children ages 3 – 9. Simply fill out the registration form attached and wait by the phone for your child’s  North Pole Call! Calls will be made by Mrs. Clause, or Santa’s Elves. 
 
When/Where: Calls will be placed on Thursday, December 21st from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Sign up by December 16th.
 
Ages: Ages 3-9.

Northwest Park
December Full Moon Hike
 

 

What: Come to Northwest Park for a Full Moon Hike and enjoy the beautiful trails and the full cold moon of December. Participants must preregister as space is limited, click the button below.
 
When/Where: Saturday, December 18 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Northwest Park.
 
Ages: Ages 12+.

Celebrate December Birthdays
 
What: Come celebrate the birthdays of every Windsor senior born in December. Cake donated by Geissler’s Supermarkets for the birthday honorees. Honorees should sign up by the Wednesday before the event with the senior center office for a gift. Gifts and live music performed by Jim Harkins sponsored by Windsor Health & Rehabilitation. Thank you sponsors! Free. Call 860-285-1992 to register.
 
 
When/Where: Wednesday, December 22 from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM.

December Vacation Camp
 
What: Let us make your winter break a breeze! Vacation Camp is for elementary students during the holiday break. Students will enjoy their holiday break with friends, games, sports, activities, arts and crafts, and much more! Students should bring their own lunch and water bottle. We will provide snacks.
 
When/Where: December Break - December 27th through December 30th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
 
Ages: 1st grade - 6th grade
