Update from the Town of Windsor
The Town of Windsor will be distributing additional COVID-19 Self-Test kits provided by the State of Connecticut. The town will be requiring residents to register in advance using their Rec1 on-line registration website.

Due to there being a very limited quantity, these self-test kit requests should be prioritized to anyone currently symptomatic or at high risk and who can’t locate a test privately.

Starting TONIGHT at 6:30PM, the online registration sign-up will be available on the town’s website, social media, and directly by clicking the button below. Registration will be available until all slots have been filled. Residents will either log in with their already existing Rec1 username or password, or create a new account.

Once you register and checkout you will receive a confirmation with a time and location to pick up your self-test kit on either Thursday or Friday. To be eligible to pick up a test kit you must be a Windsor resident, with proof of residency. Acceptable Proof of Residency Include: driver’s license; passport with a utility bill or piece of mail; etc.

The distributed iHealth kits contain two tests per kit, due to the limited quantity there will be a limit of one kit per person/household.

Governor Lamont Signs Executive Order on the Reemployment of Retired Teachers To Help Address Teacher Shortage

Governor Ned Lamont yesterday announced that he has signed an executive order related to the COVID-19 emergency declarations (Executive Order No. 14E) that modifies certain state laws in order to provide school districts with greater flexibility to address the current teacher shortage caused by the recent spike in COVID-19 infections by relaxing certain statutory limits on the availability of retired teachers.

The order takes two actions:

  1. It allows school boards to reemploy or continue to employ retired teachers, even if they reached the maximum limit permitted under state law while receiving retirement benefits by excluding the period between July 1, 2021, and February 15, 2022, from the salary determination.
  2. It modifies certain statutes that allow school districts to hire retired teachers for a maximum of two school years in districts designated as a subject shortage area or identified as a priority school district by excluding the period between July 1, 2021, and February 15, 2022, from being included when calculating that two-year maximum eligibility period.
