Dear Neighbor,

This past Monday, I joined gun violence survivors and anti-violence advocates on the steps of the State Capitol for a rally in support of increasing funding and programs to combat community gun violence.

Local and state leaders are calling for the creation of an Office of Gun Violence Prevention and declaring gun violence a public health crisis. These measures are similar to legislative proposals that were recently announced by Governor Lamont. You can find more information of those here

There were 118 gun homicides in Connecticut last year, the highest number in 25 years, according to CT Against Gun Violence. It is clear that more needs to be done to combat gun violence in our communities and as a legislator, I am committed to supporting legislation that will support programs and funding for this cause.

The CT Mirror wrote a story on the rally which highlights the important voices and calls for action. Click here to read.

Youth Advisory Council
Rep. McCarthy Vahey and I want to hear from young people about the issues that are most important to them and learn what we can do as legislators to bring their voices to the Capitol. We are holding our first Youth Advisory Council meeting on Sunday, Feb. 27th at 4:30 pm. If your child is interested in joining, email taylor.zitkus@cga.ct.gov

Coffee Hour
Join State Rep. McCarthy Vahey and I for a coffee hour on Tuesday, March 1st at the Candlewood Market in Fairfield! We'll have a table reserved at 5:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to check-in with us as the 2022 legislative session gets underway and share any concerns or questions you may have. We hope to see you there! ☕
