100% Rating on 2021 Environmental Scorecard from CTLCV

February 22, 2022

I am proud that the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) recognized me for my support and advocacy of environmental initiatives, which earned a 100% rating from the CTLCV on its 2021 Environmental Scorecard.

Connecticut is my home, and I am proud to fight to protect our state’s environment for future generations who will live, work and play here. Ensuring the state remains a leader in environmental policy initiatives, especially environmental justice in my hometown of Waterbury, is always a legislative priority for me.

The environmental justice conversation needs to continue. I’ve taken on environmental challenges simply because I did not like what I saw around my neighborhood, as it was affecting the quality of air and the quality of life. But, while progress has been made, there is a long way to go from a practice and policy perspective on environmental justice.

There are millions of dollars from the federal infrastructure law and COVID-19 recovery available to Connecticut, which can be invested in equity and environmental justice commitments to communities of color in our cities that are overburdened by polluting facilities and transportation emissions. We must prioritize and pass legislation that addresses long-needed changes to our existing environmental justice laws to protect better and strengthen these communities.

The environmental scorecard grades state lawmakers based on how they vote on significant environmental legislation. To read the full 2021 Environmental Scorecard from CTLCV, click here.
