Extreme Cold Forecasted for CT

January 11, 2022

Frigid temperatures are in Connecticut's forecast this week, prompting Governor Lamont to activate the state's severe cold weather protocol for the first time this winter which will be in effect through 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Frigid temperatures can bring black ice to commutes, frozen pipes, cold weather injuries like frostbite and hypothermia, and more.

Warming centers and shelters will be open across our state. If you or someone you know needs shelter, please call 2-1-1 to be directed to a nearby location and transportation if necessary.

Winter has been mild so far, but as the season continues, it's essential to be prepared and know how to stay safe during extreme weather events. Stay warm and stay safe.

As always, please reach out to my office if you have questions or need assistance.
