Legislative Priorities for Black & Puerto Rican Caucus
Before our session day last Wednesday, I spoke at the press conference held by the Black & Puerto Rican Caucus to discuss the caucus' legislative priorities for the 2022 legislative session.

As you know, one of my main focuses this year is addressing mental health, particularly as it relates to children. So many people have had struggles with mental health in recent years, and it has been shown that children of children of color have experienced these issues at higher rates. HB-5001 represents a bi-partisan effort to address our fractured mental health system and to replace it with a transformative and comprehensive system that will support, change and save lives.

Public Hearings on the Schedule for This Week
A look at the schedule of public hearings being held this week. Please remember that you only need to register if you wish to provide testimony. If you want to observe the hearings, you can tune in to watch the proceedings live on the committee’s YouTube channel.

You can register to testify and find more detail on this week’s public hearings, including the bills that will be heard, in this week’s CGA Bulletin. You can access the Bulletin here.

As a member of the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee, we are going to be holding a public hearing on Tuesday to go over many very interesting bills, including ones concerning workforce development, tax credits for employers who pay tuition costs for employees, and student loan reimbursement.
