REP. WELANDER CELEBRATES THE WORK OF THE DERBY DELEGATION FOR SECURING NEARLY $1.35M FOR GRIFFIN HOSPITAL

(HARTFORD, CONN.) – State Representative Mary Welander (D-Derby, Orange, Woodbridge) and fellow members of the Derby delegation, today, applauded the approval of $1,349,700 in state bond funding for Griffin Hospital to replace their out-of-date emergency generator.

Rep. Welander said, “This is a funding victory the entire Valley will benefit from. Griffin Hospital serves 130,000 patients and provides care to the most vulnerable populations in the region. The $1,349,700 million will allow the hospital to replace the aging generator in their facility in order to continue providing status-leading care in our community. I want to thank my colleague, Representative Klarides-Ditria, for submitting this requested funding and for unifying the entire Derby delegation in order to make this vital improvement in our community.”

“This state funding will help ensure that Griffin Hospital has the resources it needs so that the medical professionals who work there can continue providing their great level of care even while facing an emergency situation,” said Governor Lamont, who serves as chairman of the State Bond Commission. “I am glad that the state can partner with the hospital on this project.”

Griffin Hospital is a nationally ranked facility, recognized by numerous organizations and publications for the outstanding care they provide to designated distressed communities.
