Rep. Horn Named House Chair of Finance

The House leaders appointed Rep. Maria Horn (D-64) as House Chair of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee. Rep. Horn has previously served as House chair of the Public Safety and Security Committee.

 

Speaker Ritter said, “Maria's time as a committee chair and her experience in corporate finance make her the perfect choice to lead the committee. As past chair of the Public Safety Committee, Maria is used to dealing with complex issues and strong personalities – she is a leader, through and through.”

 

Majority Leader Rojas said, “As former chair of the Finance Committee, I’m excited to see Rep. Horn assume this critical leadership role. She possesses the work ethic, intelligence, and calming disposition to manage the myriad policy issues and interests that the Finance, Revenue, and Bonding have cognizance over. Sound tax and bonding policy is a key component to the state’s economic growth and stability. I am confident that Rep. Horn, with her legislative and local experience as well as a professional career, will bring a unique perspective to the committee ready to move our economy forward.”

An attorney, Rep. Horn Represents one of the largest Assembly districts by geographical area, located in the northwest corner of the state. Before beginning her law career, Rep. Horn spent four years working in corporate finance at JP Morgan & Co.
