You can submit all testimony and sign-up to testify - either in person or online - by clicking the accessible links at the top of the Hearing's agenda (linked above) or in the bulletin.
I am thrilled that The Office of the State Traffic Administration is in support of the bill I proposed - to require training of our local traffic authorities - and included it in their recommendations. These are the groups that help make the decisions about our local roadways, sidewalks speed limits, and safety.
Both raised bills are important and I look forward to your input on them. In particular, I want to take a moment to highlight the importance of the implementation of the Vision Zero Council's (VZC) recommendations.
Vision Zero Recommendations
As background, the VZC is an interagency work group that the legislature established in Public Act 21-28. In its establishment, the work group was tasked with developing statewide policy to eliminate transportation-related fatalities and severe injuries involving pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, motorists, and passengers.
Following the news that, "2022 among deadliest for CT drivers and pedestrians in decades, data shows," these recommendations are more vital than ever in keeping everyone who uses our roads, sidewalks and bike lanes, especially our most vulnerable users, safe. We want to make sure that people can safely access and move around their communities without fear of being hurt.
I look forward to hearing more about these recommendations at the public hearing, and listening to your thoughts about the proposed changes. I encourage you to join us early Monday morning to hear more about this important bill. |
