Dear Neighbor,

Happy March and Happy Women’s History Month! As we approach spring, we celebrate the history, achievements, and important contributions of women everywhere.

“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” –Maya Angelou

Below, I have also listed important information that can benefit our residents, including an opportunity to talk to me in person over a cup of coffee. Please share this with anyone that you know who may find it helpful.

Please reach out to my team if I can help you with anything.

Have a great weekend!

Constituent Coffee Hour

I will be available for a constituent coffee hour on March 18 at Dave and Charlie’s Hometown Deli in Norwalk. Rep. Johnson will be available from 11 am – 12:00 pm.

The purpose of this event is to provide the residents of the 143rd district with an opportunity to learn more about me, my legislative priorities, and other goals for the ongoing session and beyond. Weather permitting, I will meet with those interested on Dave and Charlie’s patio.

I will also collect items for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC). They are looking for items needed in safe houses, including but not limited to toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, shampoo, body wash, and self-care products. I will be available to accept donations from 11 am – 12:15 pm at Dave and Charlie’s.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to my office.

Participating in the Legislative Process

Testifying at public hearings is an impactful way for you to share your experiences directly with lawmakers and influence change. Click here to learn more about submitting testimony and participating in public hearings during the 2023 legislative session.

Additionally, here are some other resources that will help to participate in the legislative process:

  • Register for the CGA's Bill Tracking system to follow any bill as it moves through the legislative process. You will receive notifications when the bill's status changes.
  • For information on how to testify on a bill that is up for a public hearing, follow this link.
  • Access the CGA Citizen's Guide for more on how you can become part of the process.
  • Follow CT-N.com for live coverage of committee meetings and House and Senate floor debates.
  • Are you curious about how your tax dollars are spent? The State Comptroller's Open Connecticut web portal allows residents to track state government spending in real-time.

Your concerns and opinions are fundamental to the legislative process. Please continue to reach out to me to share your thoughts, ideas, and questions.

If you need any help or assistance, please reach out to team and me. My constituent engagement coordinator, Breanne Clifton, is available to provide assistance in navigating the process of testifying should you want to speak on a specific bill. We are here to help!

Sincerely,

Dominique Johnson
State Representative
