Schools To Get Air Filtration System Upgrades

April 6, 2023

I’m proud to announce that Waterbury Public Schools will be receiving nearly $16 million for upgrades to its air filtration system. It’s part of a larger $56 million statewide investment to improve heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for public schools.

The grants are being awarded through the HVAC Indoor Air Quality Grants Program for Public Schools, a newly established state program that is administered by the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services.

Here is a list of the schools that will be receiving state grant funding.

  • Walsh Elementary School: $2,175,275.16
  • Sprague Elementary School: $2,153,877.17
  • Hopeville Elementary School: $2,080,301.60
  • Driggs Elementary School: $2,066,180.05
  • B.W. Tinker Elementary School: $2,027,648.28
  • Woodrow Wilson Elementary School: $1,902,121.11
  • F.J. Kingsbury Elementary School: $1,813,113.33
  • Bunker Hill Elementary School: $1,746,535.90

These funds do not cover the entire cost of the project, but the grants will most definitely help make the upgraded air filtration systems a reality.
