Celebrating Puerto Rican Culture

May 1, 2023

As a State Representative, who is Puerto Rican and serves Waterbury, it was an honor to be part of the unveiling of the schedule of Puerto Rican parades and festivals around the state.

I was proud to join advocates from the Connecticut Institute for Community Development (CICD) -Puerto Rican Parade Committee. It’s a non-profit that was founded in 1958 dedicated to leadership, cultural preservation, and community service.

There will be many opportunities for you to get exposed to our rich and diverse culture. I applaud the state for continuing to showcase our heritage. The Puerto Rican Festival in Waterbury, known as Bori-fest, will be held on Saturday, July 22. CLICK HERE to learn more about the event and sponsorship opportunities.

You will find the entire summer schedule below except for the Puerto Rican Parade and Festival of Fairfield County because organizers are still working on a date.

In addition, I would like to thank the team at the Waterbury Puerto Rican Parade and Festival for its generous gift of a beautiful painting depicting the Puerto Rican flag. Destiny Maria Robinson did an amazing job with this piece of art, which is already hanging proudly in my office at the Legislative Office Building.
