AVON STATE REPRESENTATIVES APPLAUD FUNDING FOR AVON SOFTBALL FIELDS

$200,000 Allocated for New Fields at Sperry Park

State Representatives Eleni Kavros DeGraw (D-Avon/Canton) and Tammy Exum (D-West Hartford/Avon) applauded the $200,000 budget allocation for new softball fields at Sperry Park in Avon.

"These softball fields represent a giant step forward for our girls and for Title IX," said Rep. Kavros DeGraw. "Our Avon Little League is one of the best in the state and it’s critical that the fields at Sperry Park for softball help our softball program rise to meet that excellence."

“I’m proud to support a critical investment in our local parks and public spaces for young children and families,” said Rep. Exum.

"The popularity of softball has steadily increased over the years in Avon," said Avon Town Council Chairman Dan Polhamus.  "This money will be instrumental in helping us to improve the quality and capacity of our softball facilities.  In doing so, we move closer to our goal of providing an experience that rivals and complements those of our excellent Little League baseball programs. Thank you to Rep. Exum and Rep. Kavros DeGraw for once again coming through for Avon.
