Talk with Dr. Leo Igwe This Friday

May 18, 2023

On Friday, May 19th, I will hold a conversation with Leo Igwe, a renowned Nigerian human rights activist and secular humanist from 1-3pm, in the Capitol, Room 301.

Dr. Igwe is a former representative of the International Humanist and Ethical Union specializing in campaigning against, and documenting the impacts of,  witchcraft accusations -  especially on children.

He has documented how religious extremists in Nigeria have coopted and used local government to enforce religious codes of law, hindering human rights advances. He holds a Ph.D. from Bayreuth International School of African Studies, University of Bayreuth (Germany) and a graduate degree in philosophy from the University of Calabar (Nigeria).

All are invited to attend. To RVSP, please send an email to kess.ohalloran@cga.ct.gov
Please reach out to my office if you have any additional questions. I hope to see you on Friday!
