Dear Neighbor,
Armed Forces Day
As we look around the world this week, we are reminded again that freedom comes at a great cost. Throughout our history, brave Americans have stepped forward to defend our liberties — willing to pay the price to keep our country safe.
Our nation’s Armed Forces are the best in the world, and we know that it is not only the person who wears our nation’s uniform that serves. Their loved ones serve as well. We also honor the families, caregivers, and survivors of our Armed Forces — all those who sacrifice on our behalf and who give their all to support the service members they stand behind.
Armed forces day was this week. This week take a minute making sure to thank those who sacrifice serving us.

Veterans an Military Resource Fair
As House Chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, I would like to invite you to the first annual Veterans and Military Resource Fair!
A press conference in support of Connecticut's Military and Veterans will take place at 0930 in LOB Room 1C, followed by the fair in the concourse from 1000 to 1400.
This fair is open to all. It will provide legislators and staff the opportunity to interact with various veteran service organizations including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the UConn Veterans Department, the VFW, and more!
Additionally, several branches of the Military will provide static displays of their technologies for attendees to interact with.
I hope to see you all there!

Gun Safety Bill
There have been more mass shootings than there have been days in this year. Connecticut remains one of the safest states in the nation because of the steps we have taken on gun safety...this bill is another step forward.
Representatives from Connecticut Against Gun Violence met with myself, Rep. Godfrey, and Rep. Stafstrom.

Nonprofit Funding
This week I stood with and for, our nonprofits and striking workers, who continue to be part of holding together the fabric of our communities each and every day. A living wage, health insurance, and improved staffing levels are so important for them to live decent lives.
These workers help everyone from our homeless families, those struggling with addictions, and individuals with development disabilities. Our nonprofits and their workers desperately need us to help meet the needs for them and their own families as they continue to do the tireless work keeping Connecticut moving forward.
Actions speak louder than words. We owe it to them, so let's do the right thing!

Big Thanks to State Representative Bobby Sanchez for scheduling the CT Fatherhood Initiative information session - it was great to hear Connecticut’s statewide multi-agency collaborative efforts to support fathers and families, through systems and the support of fatherhood programs providing critical services in their communities.
