Transforming Children's Behavioral Health Policy and Planning Committee
We had a great day at the Legislative Office Building last week, where we had a press conference and planning Committee Meeting for the TCB Committee to start the development of new and numerous ways to help with behavioral health for our children in the State of Connecticut.
The panel was formed as part of legislation passed in 2022, but only began its work on Monday. Rep. Tammy Exum, a co-chair of the group, said organizers used the intervening months to fine-tune membership and the role the committee will play, and to appoint members.
The group, called the Transforming Children’s Behavioral Health Policy and Planning Committee, is expected to meet monthly for at least three years and issue recommendations to the General Assembly and some state agencies by December.

CHRO Focus Groups

A message from the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities:

As you may know, we are currently conducting an Equity Study across Connecticut Executive Branch Agencies. The Equity Study is a statewide review of Connecticut’s programs, policies, and processes aimed at making the state a more equitable place for all residents. More information can be found here: https://portal.ct.gov/equitystudy

As part of this initiative, we have invited Connecticut residents to participate in focus groups. We have recently added additional groups in English and in Spanish this week and next! We are asking for your help to disseminate, distribute or post one of the attached updated flyers so that we can have a broad section of residents participating in the focus groups and in forwarding this invitation to any contacts you believe may be interested.

Please do not hesitate to contact Darcy Strand at Darcy.Strand@ct.gov with any questions.

Thank you so much for your continued support in helping the CHRO make this study a success.

Appreciate the good push legislators made to create a position in DOC that will promote and advocate for the health, safety, welfare, and legal rights of individuals incarcerated within DOC facilities and/or on parole.
The PROTECT Act, Public Act No. 22-18, established the new Office of the Correction Ombudsperson. The Office of the Correction Ombudsperson is an Independent Public Office within the Connecticut Office of Governmental Accountability, responsible for exercising independent oversight over the Connecticut Department of Correction.
