Dear Neighbor,

Yesterday, New Haven families kicked off the first of the city’s Family Fun Days – a summerlong family-fun series of events happening at parks and schoolyards in neighborhood across the Elm City.

Family Fun Days are events for all ages and will offer free activities, games, bouncy houses, food and snacks, live DJs and more. In addition, staff from other city departments -- such as health, police, fire, the Livable City Initiative and Fair Rent Commission – as well as other non-profit organizations will be on site to connect with residents, share information about services and provide free resources. In total, there will be six (6) Family Fun Days happening on Wednesday afternoons between 2:30 and 5:30 pm during July and August. (Rain dates are scheduled the following day on Thursdays at the same time.)

Family Fun Days are one of dozens of city-sponsored activities, events and programs happening this summer for New Haven’s children, youth and families, with others including: summer camps; Movies in the Park; the Summer Fun Bus; organized sports; arts programs; academic, tutoring and enrichment programs; youth employment opportunities; and more. All these programs are now underway, and most can be found here.

For more information, residents can call the New Haven Youth and Recreation Department at (203) 946-7582.

Sincerely,

Juan Candelaria
State Representative
